Each week we will provide you two small group resource guides that can be used by a group (over ZOOM, SKYPE, FACEBOOK, etc) or can also be done individually.
One guide is based on one of the upcoming Sunday readings, and the other guide is based on the previous Sunday's homily.
A personal or small group study you can follow, which draws from one of the upcoming Sunday readings. This process is based on the framework provided by Christian Life Communities (CLC).
The leader gives the group a chance to share briefly how they are going at the moment. You might ask everyone to share a high and a low over the past few days.
In a small group setting someone leads a prayer or a short meditation, to help the group to become centred on God.
This is followed with two minutes of silent prayer and reflection to pray with a word or sentence that struck you
The questions are read by the leader
The group is then given ten minutes to prayerfully reflect on the readings.
Note: This is a praying meeting, so we keep an atmosphere of listening and reflection. When a member shares about their prayer and life, we listen attentively and let their words sink into our heart. We don't add to it, interrupt, comment or ask questions. We allow five seconds between each sharing. The facilitator will thank each person for their sharing.
After a few minutes of silence, reflect on what moved you in someone else's sharing. Maybe it echoes a similar experience of your own. Do I feel in harmony with the rest of the group? Do I have any new insight?
It's good to allow a few seconds of silence between each person's sharing: This should happen in a prayerful atmosphere.
You may like to bring to the group a person or situation that you would like to bring to God for God's help, or an absent member of the group, and pray for each other.
